I was approached awhile back to illustrate the concepts for a table top RPG called Endless Blue. While unfortunately the project has been put on hold I've been the "OK" to show the characters. If you want to see some close ups of my favorites and the line art head on over to my tumblr; vcreatures.tumblr.com
These are wonderful. I love the fabrics and decorative frills.
It's hard to think of clothing and ornamentation that denote culture while still making sense in an underwater setting. Were you following design notes or coming up with your own? The Chelon ape, stylish though it is, is the only one that doesn't look practical in the water. Beautiful work!
It can be difficult to create plausible underwater clothing for sure. At first I had a hard time conceiving visually interesting, for the client, but still plausible designs. There were design notes with these concepts but the commissioner was kind enough to let me do my own thing with their clothing for the most part. The one that my client had a large say with was the Chelon. He had a specific vision for him and I wanted to honor wishes.
Mer looks amazing! Love the look of her sleek tail & webby back-fin. Wish she had #3's fingerwebs, too!!
Wow, these look awesome!
Wow! I love these! I LOVE aquatic creatures
Nice detail using the Haida-style markings on the Orcan! And I really like the Lumulus, the exoskeletion gives it that tough, 'don't mess with me or you'll regret it' vibe while still being elegant.
I'm now extremely intrigued by the concept, especially because the characters are so brilliantly and unconventionally designed. I especially like Chelon, Yuan-teel, and Lumulus.
Those character designs look wonderful, I really like them! Especially Yaun-teel, Sahaguin and Ceph are great .
These creatures look awesome! I always wanted to play a game like this when was younger.
